The holidays are almost here! We chat a bit with our buyer Jennifer to discuss holiday décor trends and more.
Which trends are very popular for the holidays this season?
Metallics have been trending for a while, and I think they are still strong. Last year, there was a lot of gold and white. This year I'm seeing some warmer combinations with bronze or gold with jewel tone colors. For a more fun modern take, I have also seen a lot of bright multicolored pieces often paired with white.
From bright and merry to festive and elegant, how has holiday decor evolved over the years?
I think modern holiday decor is much more suited to individual style. In the past, it was all about traditional images and colors. Now you can find decor in any color or style whether it's classic, modern, or whimsical.
We have 3 new Italian Glass Trees joining our collection this year. Can you tell us a little about them?
I did some research and found images of vintage mid-century Murano glass trees that became the inspiration for our new pieces. I haven't found anything in the marketplace quite like them. We worked with our glass artist and came up with these three designs. I particularly like the clean lines of the cone shaped trees.
We collaborate with many artists, like Linnea and Johanna Riley and Patricia Breen, on exclusive holiday items. What is it like working directly with artists to procure the right pieces for this season's assortment?
It's always fun to come up with new ideas for products with one of our artists. We end up with totally unique items that are exclusively ours. I think the Riley Studio and Patricia Breen have artistic sensibilities that particularly speak to our customers.
Are there any holiday items from our collection that transcend the season and can be displayed throughout the year?
I think the Dancing Glass Angel with its elegant form and color is the perfect example of holiday decor that can be displayed year round. It's too beautiful to pack up after the season!
