Happy Birthday Monet!

"Everyone discusses my art and pretends to understand, as if it were necessary to understand, when it is simply necessary to love." -Claude Monet

Claude Monet was born November 14, 1840 in Paris, France, and developed an early love of drawing, selling caricatures of the town's residents as a young man.  It was his love of the outdoors, and the subsequent series of paintings of his natural surroundings, that have become some of his most celebrated pieces; defining him as a leading figure in the Impressionist movement.  Monet was a genuine innovator, leaving a legacy of artwork that still inspires today.
